Yuki Matsuno is a lawyer, investigator, and mediator. Currently, Yuki practices workplace law with Southern Butler Price, focusing on workplace investigations, mediations, and assessments. Her background includes working as an associate with the Labour and Employment group at Russell and DuMoulin (now Fasken) and six years in labour relations at the British Columbia Institute of Technology.
Yuki is a member of the Law Society of British Columbia and the Canadian Bar Association, British Columbia Branch. She is also a former member of the Civil and Family Rosters of Mediate BC. Yuki holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of British Columbia. She obtained a Certificate in Conflict Resolution from the Justice Institute of British Columbia and completed her Master of Counselling at City University of Seattle in Vancouver.

Over the course of her career, Yuki has worked with a wide variety of individuals and organizations in the public, private, and non-profit sectors to help people engage with each other at work in a respectful and effective manner. Yuki has also facilitated conversations in work teams in various sectors and industries to help articulate common values and build pathways to better teamwork. Her work is informed by her lived experience as well as ongoing learning in the fields of trauma, the effects of historical/structural oppression, and intercultural and intergenerational issues.
Yuki trains, coaches, and presents in a variety of subject areas, including mediation, dealing with conflict, and communication skills. She has taught as a sessional at the Peter A. Allard School of Law at the University of British Columbia and held appointments as a member of the BC Employment Standards Tribunal and the Employment and Assistance Appeal Tribunal and as a Child Protection Mediator.
Mediator
Yuki Matsuno has practiced as a lawyer-mediator for over 15 years. She helps employees, managers, unions, and organizations in the public, private, and non-profit sectors repair and improve working relationships in a safe and respectful setting. With empathy and focus, Yuki assists mediation participants to work together to resolve challenging situations in the workplace involving diverse cultures and values, respectful communication, team dynamics, and post-investigation rebuild of work relationships. Yuki’s approach to mediation is informed not only by her many years of experience practicing labour and employment law, but also by her experience as a mediator in Small Claims Court, family law, and child protection, and her lived experience. As she mediates, Yuki helps participants communicate, share information, and come to resolutions using her knowledge of the role of emotions in causing and resolving disputes and the importance of work as a human endeavour tied to life satisfaction.
