Marion Galinski is a practical, empathetic, and fair-minded workplace investigator and mediator with experience as a labour and employment lawyer and a senior human resources professional since 2004.
After obtaining her Bachelor of Arts in psychology and criminology from Simon Fraser University (2000) and her law degree from Queen’s University (2003), Marion’s career started in Toronto, Ontario, where she practiced law at a leading labour and employment law firm. Marion then worked as in-house legal counsel in the financial and retail industries prior to moving into a human resources leadership role in 2013.
Marion was called to the Ontario Bar in 2004 and to the British Columbia Bar in 2010. She is accredited as a Chartered Professional in Human Resources, CPHR BC and Yukon, and a Senior Certified Professional with the US Society for Human Resources Management. Marion is a member of the Workplace Investigations Section of the Canadian Bar Association’s BC Branch.

Throughout her career, Marion has been passionate about understanding workplace dynamics, resolving workplace conflicts, and navigating difficult and sensitive situations to ensure healthy and safe workplaces. As a legal counsel and human resources leader working for federally and provincially regulated enterprises, Marion has extensive experience successfully handling employee and labour relations issues and finding creative solutions to complex issues. She has extensive experience conducting investigations into issues such as sexual assault, bullying and harassment, discrimination, theft, and general workplace misconduct, in various industries such as education, health care, and corrections, involving adults and youth. Marion also conducts pulse checks and workplace assessments on employee engagement and retention concerns and conducts mediations.
Mediator
Marion has been involved in resolving conflict and negotiating agreements throughout her career in informal and formal settings, involving employees in various industries, including unionized environments. Marion strives to resolve conflict before an investigation is initiated, or with the consent of the parties, during the investigation process, when mediating disputes promotes the maintenance or ‘rebuild’ of positive working relationships. Marion has also been involved in mediating wrongful dismissal complaints, employment standard disputes, and grievances, and has negotiated various settlements. In support of her mediation practice, Marion has completed formal mediation training through the Law Society of BC and continues to build on her skills through practice and continuous learning.
